No RPM Signal?

My car ran fine on the way home on thursday,parked it an a few hours later would not start,cranks good and its getting fuel,but no spark,one thing I,ve found so far is that its not getting any rpm signal.any ideas of where to look next?Its a 305,5 speed

Car: clapped out 84Z
Engine: 355 efi roller
Transmission: tremec TKO
Pull the cap and see if the rotor spins when you crank the motor. If it does, you'll have to troubleshoot the distributor. This is a carbed car, correct?
