Hard Acceleration = THUMP

So I've got another question for you guys. Whenever I come off the line, unless caress the gas, I hear this loud thump from the passenger, rear side. It varies with the amount of gas I give it. If I really stomp on it, you'd think the rear end had just fallen off. It also does the same thing if I give it the gas when I'm coasting. And NO I've never done a neutral drop, so.... whadya think?
Thanx for all the help

BA91,

It's possible the exhaust system is kissing the underside of the floor pan. That would be indicative of a larger problem, like a torn engine mount or warped or bent exhaust system pipe, etc.

It's also possible the front torque arm nount is loose at the transmission, or the transmission crossmember or mount are loose or damaged.

Another possibility is the lower control arms , but that would more likely sound off at the lower rear of the floor instead of the passenger side.

You should raise the car, set it on stands, then check for loose components.

Tranny mounts should be cheap. About $15 or something like that. You may want to check out one of the mounts from Energy Suspension. They're supposed to be better that the old rubber ones.
