Broken bolts

Somebody please help me. I took the trans out of my car, and broke 2 of the bolts that hold the crossmember on. Bolt extractors are crap: I've never been able to get them to work. Can I just drill and tap the broken bolts a size smaller or bigger, or something? I need to get the trans back in so I can finally drive my car!!!

Thanks for all your help,

Jeff

i 've had good luck welding a nut on the broken stub and using a wrench to get them out. if that doesn't work drill them with the correct size tap drill a nd rethread them. if you have or can find a left handed drill will help out a lot, most larger parts stores, machine shops, and industrial suppliers shoule have left handed drills.

Thanks, Ede. I don't have access to a welder at this time, but I'll drill them out. Is a left handed drill just a bit that turns in the opposite direction? Thanks again.
