keys stuck in ignition, need help asap
this just happened out of the blue, i pulled into my drive way and started to get out, but when i turned off my car, it wouldnt go all the way back to the locked position to where i could move the key. i made sure it was in park by putting it into park several times but it did no good. i got the keys out by forcing it to turn backwards, but it feels like its jammed right before it gets to the locked position, any suggestions?

I had this happen once.. WHat I did to get my key out was I just moved the transmision out of park and into drive, and back to park.. It must have something to do with the shift lock..

does anyone know what kinda signal is sent to the ignition switch to tell it the car is in park so the key can be removed? does it ground out a wire or something like that?

Sofa King,
You need to include some information about the vehicle. Some cars have a mechanicla linkage between the shift lever and the steering column, and some later cars have a solenoid in the steering column to release the key interlock.

nevermind, problem solved. it took the button and shift **** off, and when i did that, the little white piece that gets pressed down by the button was in a bind i guess cause when i pulled the **** off it i had to yank the stuff out of it, and the little white piece broke in half and shot straight up. i rigged it up with a little metal rod and all works normal now. the beast is back
