EGR/TPI/ESC ping?
Hey guys,
I know on vacum advanced distributors when someone disables their EGR it can cause pinging by changing the advance.
Well with TPI since the distrib is ESC (electronic) will disabling EGR have anything to do with high rpm pinging?
No i didn't disable my EGR, but im trying to locate a problem. Thanks

Yes.
The EGR will keep the combustion chambers cooler, so when you do put your foot in the pedal the likelihood of preignition from hot chambers will be diminished. Removing the EGR will increase the chances of preignition and detonation.
Check the article written by GM Tech on the SEThirdGen.org site for full details, but if you do you'll probably decide to keep the EGR fully functional.
