How to choose the correct spark plug? Some other questions also.
I seem to have problems finding plugs that work well. Bolth of my 350's camaro and truck have 58cc heads and flat top pistons. Usualy I run either autolite 26's or 666's, they bolth seem to work decent but with a high output coil I should be able to increase the gap more right? Also If I do a compression check and lets say I get 150 on a hole. My old spark plug cleaner has a guage to test the spark plug it compresses air and tests where the spark plug stops producing spark. Ive tested the 26's and 666's gaped at 35 and the spark dwindels at 65 on bolth plugs. The guages red zone is from 0-75 yellow 80-110 green 110-165. I would assume that the green zone is preferable since it is in the same compression range as the cylindar. Is this true? If so why do these spark plugs drop spark so early?
Im really confused "more like this is the first time ive really bothered with it" when it comes to ignition realated stuff. Especialy when the eqqiptment I use to test doesent have instuctions.
Any help would be apreciated.

Standard Delco's are the way to go, run stock gap (.45 I believe) and you'll be fine...
If you run an aftermarket coil you can usually get away with .5, but play with it and run with what works best.
As for your spark dying out at 65PSI... Beats me... if your engines are running good, I'd question the tester. Perhaps someone else can jump in here?

Thanks for answer my post Xenodrgn . Mostly Ive seen subjects dealing with spark pushed back and not fully answerd. I checked my tester with my cpmression/leak down tester and its dead on so it could be user problems but I doubt it. It seems to me that I should need a plug that works in the compression area of my engine. Im going to check latter and see what im getting on a couple holes to see for sure. Anyone know of a spark plug part number for high compression engines? Im thinking some of the factory 327's had some beefy compression.

I think the Delcos have a .35 to .40 stock gap. .45 would be useful for a few extra ponies if you have a complete high performance ignition system, otherwise your rotor will start shorting, or plug wires will turn intermittent, etc. Just a real pain to diagnose so I would stick to a sure spark at .35. I actually run the Bosch platinums, which supposedly never lose their gap, and so far they are great

I know the camaro qualifies as high performance ignition and the truck is basicly an upgrade from stock.
