I picked 327 because everyone has a 350 and I want something different...

yeah so he could get much better power out of that then the 305, but i would recommend doing this....
1) getting an aftermarket TPI intake baseplate and porting it to the max siameasing the runner.
2) get SLP semi-sieameased runner and fully port those
3) Port the plenum, runners and baseplate and head to match to the gasket. that should give you some more Rs. Then try to get a cam and head combo that make there power at a little lower RPM, you should have a good performer then.

Personally, I would build a 383 if you're wanting something different from the 350. Or look into that new 427 small block . By using that cam and a TPI setup you will ruin the high-revving performance 327s are so fondly remembered for. If you're going to run a 327, do it right, and run a carb or miniram. IMO, that cam won't be quite enough for it either.
I think the 327 is a cool idea but don't rape it with a TPI setup. Just my $0.02.

Airfoil, Dynomax cat-back, MSD coil, 180 t-stat, Bald Eagle tires,
Hypertech fan switch, Accel 23# injectors, Holley AFPR, ported plenum,
Ported Daytona Yellow stock base, Moroso valve covers, other stuff,
Ruger P95DC, hot wife, new oil filter, thick rubber floormats, no cats.
18.0 @ 85MPH since I'm one big-a$$ MF

Some guy I know has a 327 in his z28 and that thing is the fastest third gen I've ever seen but he still prefers 350s. 327s need to rev higher to make the same power as 350s so he has this overly-huge cam in it which makes it barely streetable.

Why stay away from a 327? Well are you looking to make some power or not? There's a phrase that dates back before my time, probably even before my dads time that he taught me, "There ain't no replacement for displacement!" In other words, Money+Displacement=Power, or this formula can be shortened to money=power since more displacement will generally cost more (although I'm not sure if that holds true trying to build a 327)
If you really want to be different, you could de-stroke a 400...Some say this makes for faster and higher revving motors which is great for horsepower, but probably not as good for the low end torque. Another option would be to grab the buick 3.8 Turbo motor It's all up to what you want to do, and your budget.
Good luck

Someday I want to build a twin-turbo 327. I think it would work well since a 327 will rev. Hell why not make it a roller 327? Dude you could chirp the tires into overdrive!
