Street Tire Pressure For 225-50-16's?
What should I get the pressure up to on these tires? They say 44PSI max, but I'm guessing that's WAY too high.
My understanding is the lower the PSI, the better the traction, right? So what should I use on the street?

Not necessarily true. I found out by accident the tires I have on one of my cars works BETTER with more air in them. Usually I would run them at 32, but one leaks so I figured it would take longer for it to leak if I put them at the rated 44, which worked too btw, and what do you know, it hooked better. Go figure.

You know, I have Goodyear Eagle HPs (235-60R15s) and I pumped them up to 32 pounds each. Man, it was horrible and made the car feel like it had the suspension of a steamroller--hard as a rock
So I lowered them down to about 25 pounds and it is a completely different car. Great ride and handling.
Anyone else have this problem?

To see if you have the best pressure for tread wear, make a chalk mark across the width of the tread and then drive it a bit. It will be worn off in the middle if over-inflated, while the edges will be worn off if under-inflated. Tread wear and comfort are two different things but, theoretically at least, you should have your best handling when the tread wear is completely even.
