Amsoil By-Pass Filter and Oil Cooler ???

Im looking at putting the Amsoil ByPass Filter setup on my car. While looking at it I also decided that I would like to put thier preoiler setup on too. The filter block is BMK-13 and the preoiler is AMK-01. The problem is I would also like to put an oil cooler in the system, but Amsoil doesn't recomend using it in the same system. So how else would I install the oil cooler other than going from the oil filter lines?

Here is a picture of the setup. I guess the problem is the "banjo bolts" dont let you connect anything after the preoiler.

Curious where you heard they don't recommend using it with an oil cooler. All I've heard is the oil should be filtered before going to a cooler.

Well I was looking at that diagram and wondering how I was going to get lines connected to that side of the filter setup. So I emailed the Tech guy at amsoil and he told me that they dont recomend the cooler being in the same loop as that filter setup. The only thing that I can think is that some how it would mess with the by-pass part of it???

So any idea of how else I could hook it up?

Personally, I would put it in series with the outlet (going back to the engine). In fact, I've considered doing that on a car that has a factory cooler. But, I haven't put the dual remote on that car, and haven't put a cooler on the car with the dual remote.

The only problem with that is then I cant use the thermostat valve because it would keep the oil from being filtered. And without the valve I think the oil would be cooled too much going through the cooler all the time.

Can I put a sandwich style on(the one where you retain the stock filter but have lines going out to a remote setup) run that to the cooler, then instead of putting the stock filter on, put the other style adapter on and run that to the dual filters? Think that would work?

As long as the cooler came after the filtration. I think that's the way sandwich adapters work, but I'm not completely certain about that.

I know this is a year old thread but I was wondering if either of you (or anyone else) have installed an Amsoil BMK-13 dual filter. Where did you mount it? How did you route the oil lines? What did you use for lines? ( i.e. hose, braided AN lines, etc), what issues did you have and any recommendations or suggestions on install. Pics would be nice

I have an 86 IROC so those with Firebirds or TA's might mount the remote dual filter differently but your input & pics would be beneficial to me. I wouldn't mind seeing pics of other brand dual filter mounting locations as well. Thanks!

I haven't actualy done it yet but I was planning on mounting the BMK-13 under the charcole canister(under the drivers side battery tray) That would make it pretty easy to get a pan under them to change them and the hoses would a have a fairly straight shot to the stock filter location.
