which timing cover?

I'm planning on getting a comp cams hi-tech roller timing set part 3136. I've kinda decided against the cloyes as the edelbrock site says that they arnt legal for emission controlled cars... anyways, to the question. Will the comp cams timing set work with my stock timing cover or will I have to get a new one? I've heard there are quite a few kinda cheap ones out there that leak and don't work too well, so I wanted to know that if I do need to get a new cover, what cover would you guys recommend.

Thanks

There are nothing better than GM tins you shouldn't have a problem fitting the comp timing set under the stock unit. The OE tins when installed correctly with the proper gasket/seal will not leak or give you any problems.

A timing chain set needs to be emissions legal??? I'm guessing you live in the People's Republic of Kalifornia?

Unless the chain set wasn't made right and isn't keeping the cam and crank in proper relationship to eachother there is absolutely nothing a timing chain can do to affect emissions. And they won't tear into your motor to check for it- not even in Kalifornia.

I belive that the emissions legality of a timing set depends on the adjustment of the cam advance / retard settings. Otherwise there would be no such thing as an emissions legal timing set.
