Non-Thirdgen - 1988 Suburban! Screwy no start.

Ok guys, here is a brain itcher.
1988 Suburban, 350 TBI.
Turn the key nothing happens. I have low beams, high beams, interior lights. Nothing else. You turn the key and you don’t even get the gauges to register or the fuel pump to spin, heck I don’t even have any dummy lights. With the key forward the radio won't turn on, however when you poke the wheel to get the time to flash, that still works (just like w/o the key forward).
Battery is good with a full charge, inboard fuses all good, and now get this… with the key forward, even though not a thing works, there is power to the starter solenoid.
What gives? Bad ignition switch? Starter relay? Fusible link? I don’t see a blasted thing in the engine compartment for any other fuses. Anyone have some experience with these beasts? I'm leaning toward the ignition switch but would love some input. Thanks!

could be a switch along the steering column, also check wires, I know I had a problem just like that with my fathers Van and it was a switch on the steering column!

First, check the fusible links. There are 2 battery feeds into the vehicle, about half of the circuits are connected to each; the ign sw even gets both of them, and some things are powered from each. I don't know where they are in a Submarine but a Chilton'e or some such ought to come in handy. If they're good, start tracing the big red wires under the hood from the battery toward the bulkhead connector; make sure the connector is good; then go around under the dash, and follow the big red wires everywhere they go.
