does your cars computer control a mechanical fuel pump?

so if i put a carb on a car with a computer the electirc fuel pump will still work?

No. Most of the electric fuel pumps are designed for much higher pressure than a carb can deal with. It is said that some of the 3-port regulators on the market can reduce the pressure effectively, but I know of numerous instances where people have had fuel starvation problems with that setup.

Best way to go, is if you are going to use a carb, get rid of the FI pump and get one made to go with a carb; and vice-versa.
