Was I wrong for passing by this gem in the junkyard?
I was looking around the local boneyard for a throttle cable last weekend, and I spotted an early 80's TA. I popped the hood and saw the complete motor and cfi system sitting under the hood. I go here every once in a while and don't think that it had been sitting long. It looked in pretty good shape. Is the CFI worth anything? This is the first time I've seen one anywhere. They seem pretty rare. Oh yeah, if anyone has a throttle cable for an RS with a 305, let me know. I need one. The plastic broke where it mounts to the firewall.

If you have a 91 RS TBI 305, the one you found is garbage comapring 170hp to 165hp.
CFI is only good if someone has a hard on for the original parts of it to restore there CFI system other wise if you just want power go with carb if you want EFI go with TPI.

I don't really need the CFI, I'm currently running a 355 with the TBI (Tried a TPI swap, but it got too expensive). BTW, I've still got a TPI from an 87 IROC. How would I hook up the VSS to the harness? They are different.

A few years back, cross ram set ups for 69 Z28's were probably pretty cheap. Now worth their weight in gold. If you can get it cheap pick it up and hold it. Some guy restoring a Cross Ram Vette or Camaro in the future is gonna want one and they get more scarce every day. It's probably a part you'll have to sit on for a few years to turn a profit.
edit:
remember when you could order an SLP T-Ram from Summit??? I'm not saying the CFI is in the same league as the T-Ram but stranger things have happened.
