Distributor Gear Question...

I posted this question once before and did not receive much of a response and I could not find any info in the archives. My problem being when I had my 1991 Formula TPI350 rebuilt and had 1.6 ratio roller tip rockers installed with a COMPUCAM 2032 pn: 104224 and a bronze distr. gear. I have found out that the distr. gear is being chewed up. It has been 8000miles since the rebuild. Does anyone know some or all of the possible reasons for this to take place? I am at a loss and I would like to have an idea of what I am getting into before I pull the motor again.

did you make sure to put plenty of lubricant on the gear and also make sure the distribter seated properly on the cam?

Car: 88 Firebird WS6
Engine: 350 TPI
Transmission: T56
Axle/Gears: 3.42
You could also cut a groove .020"x.020" in the lower land of the distributer(There's 2 rings to seal oil pressure near the bottom of the dirstibuter). Make sure this groove faces the cam gear (pass side) when installed. This will force oil the gear.

You must be using a high volume oil pump. Bronze gears don't last very long anyways, but added oil will help.

Why did you put bronze gear on?
Street roller (cast or steel)cams have cast iron gear on them.
The only time you should use bronze gear is if you have ALL steel cam (race only)

Also bronze gears are made to wear out faster, this prevents expensive came from wearing out on the gear.
