Hole in my tire help????????????????????

I have a screw in my tire its pretty thick. It went all the way through so when I pull it out it obviously leaks badly. I have one of those tire repair kits from Walmart that has those beef jerky looking sticky strips that you jam in the hole with those tool things they give you. My question is are those repair kits any good? Do they hole up at high speeds and hard turns? Or if its possible can a tire place take the tire off the rim and put a patch on from the inside? How much would that cost and is it safer? or should i just do it my self with that kit?

Take it to any Discount Tire, Big O or Walmart, whatever you have where you are. Period. I've never had any luck with the "beef jerky" type fixes, and I have never felt it was worth trying on any of my 3rg gens. Is less than a $10 repair worth risking your car?

My tire shop always patches tires from the inside- yes, it's possible. It costs a few bux more than the "plug" method, but that's the only repair my shop does. Of course so many people have their tires plugged and not patched, and nothing happens... but I feel better with a patch in there.

DO NOT use a plug on a steel-belted tire. The belts may cut the plug in half internally; when that happens, air pressure will allowed into the area between the belts, and will cause the tire to separate. That is a sure way to ruin a tire.

Alot of tire places will do a free flat repair. Even if it's not free, it's usually not more than $10 or $15 to get it patched. That's a whole lot cheaper than having to replace a tire because it does the Wilderness ATV thing from putting a "string" plug in it.

Thats is what I always worried about these repair kits doing. I just wanted to hear someone else say it to reassure me that my thought was right. I also thought i read it in a magazine a while ago too. Ill just bring it to the tire place tomorrow and get an internal patch since not that expensive. thanks

Those plug kits are good if you can't get to a shop right away, or on a worn out tire that isn't worth fixing. Walmart TLE will patch it for 6.50. Done right, a patch is a permanent fix.

Forgot to add that some shops (Walmart), have a patch with a plug built into it. It works excellent for bigger holes.
