Failed emmisions HC
Hi there, my first post
I just had my l98 tpi rebuilt, in a 87 camaro iroc. 50 kms on the motor. All parts are emissions legal, TPIS LTR, edelbrock intake, ported plenum, AFPR 52 psi, center bolt aluminum heads, crane compucam 212/220 .484/.495 cam with 1.6 roller rockers, 10 to 1 compression. TPIS level 5 prom. Newer high flow cat (less than 20 000 km). Headers with air tubes. All sensors (o2, egr etc) replaced with ac delco parts, except for TPS and IAC (less than 1 year old). New plugs, pickup/coil/rotor/module.
No codes, runs well except for mild idle problems 750 - 1100 variations, and mild difficulty in hot starting fixed by depressing accelator slightly. Timing 6 deg, TPS at .58 V.
Failed emmissions with 40 km/h (1357 rpm) HC ppm of 146 (Normal up to 88). the CO and NO were fine. The HC, CO and NO at idle passed. No apparent vacuum leaks.
Long message but wanted to convey all info. Thanks.

1st off welcome to the boards... Where abouts in Ontario are you???
OK it sounds as though that you are running very rich, what size injectors are you running?? Somtimes some alchol will help this problem, but I also suggest turning down you AFPR to around 41psi for testing at least... But need a bit more info on your injectors 1st

Thanks for the reply
I am from the southern ontario region. And you?
I am using ford 24# SVO injectors, the chip programmed for this. I will try to get a wide band on it to adjust the pressure or at least a scanner.

Thanks for the quick reply
It's nice to see local people, are there many?
So around 41 lbs is a good place to start? I guess you need the AFR for the optimum setting.
