when it runs and warms up it would periodiclly lose paower and i had to fight it to keep it running, and woulnd like to move at all, but i would punch it and bring it up to high rpm's and it would clear up a bit, last night it went out completeley and when i opend up the 4 barrels it would act wors that when i was only on 2 barrels. I poppet the hood and rev it manuely it would rev extremely slow and the coil would have a line of purple glow right next to the heat sink. It's an '87 firebird weith a 305 ccrochester and a 700r4 tranney. please help im dieing here.

 

Please don't be shy any suggestions would be awsome, nas far as the distributor goes it's all new, cap, rotor, ignition module. and amasingly enough im also starting to diesel when i shut it off periodically and it backfires when i get on it and open up the 4-Barrels. Please im desperate.

 

Put your old coil back in and see if it still glows like that....

 

Yes it does, but only when i have it at full throttle and it's accelerating through the rpm's. and it has to be dark in order to see it.
