New fly wheel and clutch problem?!?!
2 days ago I got my car back from the shop, and I had a new 350 put in with a bunch of new parts including hays flywheel and centerforce dual friction clutch. Well the first time I drove it I said to myself what the hell?!??!! the clutch should catch right off the floor cause its new. But to my surprise the clutch doesnt catch till like 3/5 way up. The mechanic at the shop said it will be fine but I like the clutch to catch lower. The clutch catches well thou so what could the problem be? Any suggestions are wlcome. Thanks

It sounds like the new clutch/flywheel/pressure plate combo has a different total combined thickness (from the crank to the fingers on the pressure plate where the throwout bearing hits). I heard something in a post on the tranny board about a different throw out bearing for use with a centerfoce press. plate...but I digress. You'll most likely get used to it as it operates fine and there's no real adjustment built into the hydraulic setup. I guess you could play with the clutch release fork's pivot bolt, but that means the tranny has to come out to it's probably not worth it.
