Antifreeze gel?!
I pulled the radiator cap off today and the coolant had solidified all around the inside of the filler neck in a gel-like mass. What gives? Thanks.

Car: yep
Engine: uhuh
Transmission: sure does
Sounds like someone has put in a stop leak of some sort at one time.
Some stop leaks leave gel, others leave hard crystals, some make a wierd dust around the rad. cap.

Thanks, Engineboy. I also talked to my old man last night and he said he had half an old jug of Prestone that had done the same thing. This is really strange. Since the car was used, the stop leak theory sounds good. But why was that jug of fresh stuff solidified (in 75* weather). Looks like it's Havoline for me from here on out!
