How can I test my MAT sensor?

My autoxray, says that my MAT sensor reading is too low, and I see the data, but is there a way to test to see if the sensor itself is bad. I have a relocated MAT that is positioned up near my induction, does this make a difference. I'd like to make sure it is the actual sensor that is gone before I change it. Thanks.

I have found my relocated MAT to be consistently higher by 2*C than the actual ambient air temperature. This is with the car having just coming off highway driving which is the lowest of all. I find that in city traffic I do get higher readings just because the whole underhood is getting hotter due to low air movement.

If you are get significantly different readings than the actual ambient air temperature, especially lower (I can see higher in traffic) then the only other problems would be your connection, ecm or scan tool. You can test the connection and accuracy of the ecm scan tool by inserting a 4.7K ohm resistor into the connector. Your scan tool should read 55*F.

If everything pans out by using the 4.7K resistor, then I would say its time for a new MAT.
