Camshaft tool?

Is there a tool to remove the camshaft? I was going to try an find a bolt that fits the cam put it through a handle and take it out like that? any suggestions?

That is an excellent idea. Several manufacturers offer a similar too to aid in camshaft removal and installation, and if you already have an appropriate handle, all you need is a couple of bolts.

Actually there's a pre-existing tool already installed on the motor from the factory, just waiting for someone to need it. It doubles as the cam gear when not in use as a handle.

Or get three bolts around 8-10" and thread em in, kinda like a handle.

5/16" NC bolt. Try the spare tire hold down bolt. It should be the same size and provides a long enough handle.

stand the motor on the back, cam comes out (and goes in) perfectly.

you can buy a tool for this. i did like Rb said and used a gear for years. a few years back i turned a piece of aluminum and made a handle for it on my lathe and transfered the holes from a cam sproket to get a good grip on cams when i put one in.
