What's equivilant to a Fram HP1/PH8A filter?

My remote trans filter uses a Fram PH8A/HP1 filter, but I don't want to use Fram. Is there an AC/Delco, or Purolator, or any other number out there? Thanks!

Thats the common Ford filter if I'm not mistaken. I don't know of a filter off hand, but most local auto parts stores can cross referance it for you. Pep Boys carry AC Delco's, Autozone carries Mobil 1.

Wal-Mart carries AC Delco and you can look it up, the PH8A is used on older Ford 302s and 4.0L engines by Ford. Don't see how that would work on a GM any way.

Thanks guys, I'll check it out. I was hoping to avoid the parts-counter guys, but...

Ryan, it's for a remote trans filter, something that didn't come stock on the car. Trust me, it works!

That number is a Ford filter, it fits just about every Ford on the face of the planet from 2.3L 4 bangers to 460's. It fits some other cars like various Chrysler products too.

The HP1 is actually a really good filter. If you dont wanna use that, AC Delco would be ok, or you can pick up a Wix 51515 or Motorcrapped FL-1A from somewhere. I cant remember the AC number, but if you still need it, I can get it when I get home. I *think* its like PF-1 or PF-2 or something.

Wow, thanks, MadMax! I wound up buying the PF2 yesterday; I picked up the filter catalog, flipped to some old Fords, and found the PH8A. I can't believe they actually used that big sucker on their 4 cylinders!

Besides the AC PF2, I also got a different number for a Purolator filter. The book showed a Purolator L30001 as being equivilant to the PH8A. Ever since that tech article that basically said "which filters suck" (anyone have that website kicking around?), I only use the AC and Purolator filters now.

Hey! Madmax, now that you mention the Motorcrapper FL1A, I think my dad has some of those above the garage, left over from our old +200,000 mile '76 Ford LTD (350 modified block; too bad the timing chain snapped!). I'll have to do some digging in the dust this weekend.

Thanks guys!

That’s the same as a Baldwin B2 or B2-HPG. The B2-HPG has excellent filtration while maintaining very good flow.

OK, so I'm stupid....
Remote "Trans:" filter?
I have a remote oil filter in my boat, (305 chevy,) but never heard of a remote Trans filter.

Educate me, please!
