Car died at stop light? Is this bad?
My 89 Camaro has like 96000 miles on it. I know as cars get older they need more work. Well I was driving home and came to a stop light and the engine just stopped. No service engine light or anything. Put it in park and started it back up without a problem, no clouds of smoke or anything. I am wondering if this is nothing more than perhapps the idle setting or if this is a small sign to a big problem. I don't want to be crusing down 264 and have it stop.
Second thing I'm curious about is every now and then I get smoke when I start it. Not the blue greyish smoke, cuase I know thats suppose to mean you seals my be starting to give, just a small puff of normal exhuast fumes. .... everyone is using 10w-40 motor oil right..err

Engine: 350/LT1 Intake
Transmission: 700R4 - Built

That has happened to me a bunch of time.. and I have yet to figure out the source of the problem..
I have done all the regular tune up and stuff on the car, seems to be a problem with these old cars... will probabally never figure it out..

Mitchell (diagnostic program) says our cars take 5w-30. I swear by Mitchell. Very nice program. The owners manual also says 5w-30 too. You can try switching over to that and see if that helps. 10w-40 is too thick for my taste (not that I drink the stuff). Hope that helps.
