Lean mixture - troubles? (yes)
I recently installed a crane's 2032, Edelbrock headers, dynomax's 3" cat-back,
accel runners and Haltech E6M on my '88 305TPI GTA/T5/3.42 posi. (mods at my sig)
The bottom end has a bit over 100000 miles on it. I had the haltech dyno tuned twice.
At the first time the gas mileage was a bit poor for me and I took it tuned for the second time.
Now the mileage got lower than stock! The car ran great. But now, for about a month later
the car feels much slower than at the beginning! I have an Autometer's air/fuel ratio meter+
heated 02-sensor and it shows the that the engine was running lean at cruising speeds of
60 mph and 75 mph, but not when under load.
Now I have changed the Haltech program to the
first setup (poor fuel economy), and I fear that the lean mixture has damaged the engine
(exhaust-valves, rings, pistons..)! Could that be it? The engine is puffing some blue smoke
at overnight startup.. a complete headwork has been done about 10000 miles ago.
Please tell me some good news! I've had noting but troubles this summer.. I just want to
drive it, not to get pissed at it all the time!
I haven't tried the 1/4 mile after these recent mods.. and it feels like the engine
is going to blow if I even think about it.
- saving money for the next engine..
