HEI Modules?? waaat
I am so confused, i just want a high(er) performance HEI in my 1984 L69 Vin code G camaro. Right now im running a stock HEI with an accel coil. I have been tryin to buy an MSD upgrade, but I dont even know what to buy because I dont know what type of HEI module I have. Is it a 4,5, or 7 PIN? and how do i check... whats a pin? Most of these upgrades are for 4 pin, and some five pin. PLEASE help, thank you.

They're refering to the number of pins on the ignition module. Not sure what your car came with stock, you could tell pretty easy by popin the dist cap off and countin the num of connections on the module.

what make it a upgrade
What makes it a upgrade froma 7 pin to a 4 or 5 pin why is this better and does it change anything else. Just a couple of questions that poped in my head

4 pin = original coil-in-cap HEI (no computer)
7 pin = computer-controlled coil-in-cap HEI
8 pin = external-coil small-cap HEI (87 up)
You don't "upgrade" by changing the number of pins. You get one with the number of pins that your system requires, and an "upgrade" would consist of one that has superior electrical properties in some way (usually lower "on" resistance and wider pulse width).
