Coolant Temp Sensor Question?¿
Hey Guys, where is the coolant temperature sensor located on an 89 5.7 GTA? Are they expensive, and can you get them at most auto parts stores or is it a dealer item?
Thanks!
Ride on!

First off, always replace sensors with AC Delco pieces from the GM dealer. Some aftermarket pieces are junk. I learned this the hard way. They are about $9 from the dealer.
The CTS is located on front of the intake manifold underneath a coolant hose. It has two wires running into it. One yellow, one black. To get to mine I usually have to remove the alternator belt, loosen the alternator from its bracket, and pull the alternator out of the way. You have a serpintine belt so you may have to move something else. I broke it loose with a 3/4" box wrench.

Thanks Bsa! I am going to replace it with a AC delco. I do not think it is bad, but it is cheap enough, and I just want to play it safe.
Thanks again.

um.. the only thing you have to remove to get to the CTS is the air tubing to the tb.. thats it.
irocbsa has an iroc, i think the alternator is in a different spot than our GTA's.
