I have a tech question regarding my project, "Off-Road 1985 Caprice"...
First off, I'm making an off-road Caprice.
I have an 85 Caprice with a blown motor and no good body panels. I'm going to cut the doors, windshield, and roof off, leaving the firewall and trunk (for beer). No Fenders or hood BTW, anyway..
Here's the blown motor, and part of my first question.

Here's what it look like now, after I removed the engine, by hand.

My questions:
I could not, for the life of me, un-block the heat riser passage from the manifold I'm re-using, is this going to be a major problem?
And I'm putting the 350 from the 79 into the off-raod Caprice, re-using the LG4 manifolds, intake and exhaust, and the Computer Controlled Carb. What do I need to do to make this carb run ok with the 350?
I have a 350 Knock sensor already installed on the 79's motor from the ill-fated TBI swap.
Can I just drill out and adjust the mixture screws? What da dilly yo?

don't you have a tech board at www.nethirdgen.org
i wouldn't worry about the intake heat passages being clogged, most it'll hurt is cold preformance after it's hot it would hurt preformance. i don't see why you couldn't remove the plugs to the mixture screws, but i don't know much about the ecm controled carbs. ed maher would be a good one to ask.
