Stock 1985 305 heads, VS World Products 305 "Torquers" Dyno included ; )
Hey guys. Here it is as promised.
Scanned from the latest issue of Camaro Performers http://www.superchevy-web.com
The stock 305 (stock NO# 14014416) heads were said to have come off of a 1985 305 TPI engine. The stock heads have 1.84 intakes, and 1.50 exhausts. (they also noted that most stock 305 heads had 1.72 intakes)
The World Products 305 "torquers" heads, have 1.94 intakes, and 1.50 exhausts. That, and 58cc chambers.
Thats all the info i have. They mention the addition of a camshaft, but i am unaware if its a copy of the stock, or a more aggressive grind.
I already contacted the editors about that, and am waiting on a reply. I will post it up here if i get a reply.

Still, if it is the stock cam, that isn't too bad. Can't expect the world with a 305, but it would be cool to build one up, if it could really get up there in the 1/4 mile. even mid 12's would be pretty cool with a 305. **** off alot of mustang 5.0 drivers

The S/R heads come with a mild port and polish from World Products, at least that's what the article said. The cam used was a roller cam from Comp Cams, it is a little hotter than an L98 cam. The stck heads were treated to 3 angle valve job, compression was 9 to 1....

I would assume they ran the same cam with both set of heads. They didn't??? If not that is a worthless comparison as far as the heads go then...

Oh well. Kind of sucks that they added a hotter cam too, than the stock 305 peanut cam. Kind of makes it an expensive 60 horsepower.
I just wonder why they had to change the cam to a L98 cam, just to get the stock rated horsepower and torque from the 305. I assume all of the TPI 305's were "LB9" engines. I do know that they did use a slightly better cam in 1985 then they did in 1986.
The article was informative, but wasn't as informative as it really should have been. I still have not received a reply to my e-mail to both editors, asking them for more info.
How much would you guys figure it would cost for thoes heads, and a new cam, plus a mechanics fee for instalation? My 305 just went over 100,000 miles, and it seems to be running alright, (hopefully no rebuild needed)
If it was in the neighborhood of like, 1,500, that wouldn't be all that bad to have done. It would make the little 305 kick some anus, and make the car more fun to drive untill i can afford a sweet 350.
Hope others found this info helpful. This is the first time i have been able to post something people might use, instead of my normal posts asking for help! : )

yea,
I had the whole thing priced out at rollins speed shop in gainesville with the world heads and cam swap and the guy said 1500-1800 turnkey for it.
I figure that if you are serious about HP you shouldent do it, you should just swap the motor.

According to the article, they did not change the specs of the cam, they only changed the type of cam from tappet to roller. They also installed forged pistons.
The dyno test shows the results of swapping only the heads after the other work was done.

My bad, the heads were not port and polished. The cam is a roller, and slightly hotter than an L98 cam. I think it is a fair comparison between cylinder heads, the only variable has been the cylinder heads. I think my next mod is going to be the World Product heads and an intake for my LG4, it will probably compliment my cam and headers....
