Maybe dumb question, recondition fan motors?
Both of my fans work, but one of them (driver's side) sometimes needs a manual push start by hand (not the safest by all means, but did it for troubleshooting measures). Now that it's hot as hell down here in Miami and the AC is charged up, I'm going to need both fans going for sure.
Since I've never even looked at these fans in any sort of detail, would it seem possible to "recondition" the motors? Clean them up, add a little lube, etc.? Only problem i have is the one just starting.

Altho, if he's got nothing to lose, he might as well try... my wiper motor completely stopped on me one snowy night... luckily I was two blocks away from home. The thing didnt' work for a week. I took it out, took it apart, and saw nothing burnt. I cleaned the brushes with rubbing alcohol, and put it all back together. For some reason, it's worked fine ever since- and it failed back in 1996!
If you've never pulled a motor apart before, the "brushes" are usually spring-loaded to press against the commutator section of the rotor. You might have to rig up paper clips from the outside of the motor housing, "behind" the brushes, to keep them spread apart so you can fit the rotor back in. You'll see what I mean if you take it apart.
Altho, a brand new motor for only $20 makes more sense...

On my 87 I had the same problem. If you can find an easy way to disassemble, with an eye to REASSEMBLY, try it. If not, Auto Zone, Advance, and so on should have one to replace it.
I just replaced mine.

I went ahead an bought two new ones from Pep Boys, one for each fan. They're both the same, right? If not, I'll make it work, dammit! lol!
I'll try looking at the motors anyway, nothing wrong with having a spare.
