Any trans gurus...
Quick one. I'm replacing the TCC solenoid in my 700r4 and even though i had opened the tranny to check which one i needed, by the time i got the ID stuff i screwed up and got the wrong one.
The only difference w/ the one i have vs. the one in there is my new one does not have the provisions for the temp switch (i think thats what it is, under the valvebody, 2 wire connector, grounds the same wire as teh 4th clutch switch) It does have the plug for the 4th clutch switch and the end is the same.
Anyhow, i really don't feel like returning it, and waiting another day for teh right one when the weather is good and my car is on ramps. So just assure me that the temp switch (or whatever the hell it is) is not important. Oh yeah, the solenoids are physically identical too as far as i can tell. For reference my tranny has a '8100' and the replacement i have is a 865'4129'.
...ed
ps...please don't move this thread (yet), i really need an answer today and i don't know how much traffic the tranny board gets. After tomorrow go ahead and move it there though.

- Definitely prototypes, high powered mutants of some kind. Too weird to live, too cool to die

Ed,
I've said it before, and I'm not afraid to repeat myself. If I had a trans problem I'd be looking to hook up with GM Tech. He hangs at www.SEThirdGen.org quite a bit, since that is his site.

I'll keep that in mind for teh next time. As it were, this was minor, i hooked it up just ignoring the temp switch and eveyrthing works fine. Functionally, now if my tranny is overheating and not in 4th gear it will only lock the TCC as normal, which i keep it locked pretty aggressively anyway in teh PROM.
