dry/ice tires

im having one hell of a time trying to find spiked or studded tires for my 87 IROC 350. as you know our cars are death trapes in the ice and snow, even still I will have to drive in the worst of conditions, I don't think Blizzaks will do the job, seeing as im in the mountans. last winter my car was stuck at the bottem of the drive way. so anyway the conditions are it needs to be studded or perferable spiked and be able to drive on totaly dry road, I can also use chains if needed thanks for any help, and no I can't drive another car, it must be my 300+ HP death trap.

almost forgot if there is a way to take a snow tire and make it spiked or stidded give me a heads up/link on how to do that, obviously if a tire is made to be spiked or studded that would fit in to my list. thanks agen

I've had plenty of cars with studded tires, they could not hold a candle to a set of 4 blizzack tires!

This is just my .02$ and 20 years of driving in buffalo winters.

The secret to any winter tire is to go with a narrow tire.

Like for a camaro go 14" rims and like 205 70's. they bite in better instead of sitting up on the snow. Also adding weight in back of the car like tube sand.

I drove my 85 open rear with 10.5" tires in the snow, not like you guys are in but in NC.. it was still really sketchy, most people wouldnt drive and were doubting my skills at 19 but I made it alive lol and never got stuck. well permanently anyway. I have to say it was fun as hell going 20 and not being able to accel without the rear drifting off. did get scared a few times.. like dropping one tire off the pavement on the I state.. FWD not so bad after all...

Most cars are death traps on ice/snow, it's not limited to F-bodys.
You just have to learn to take it easy. If you're used to traction, it's a hard adjustment to make, but everywhere there's snow drivers get used to it.
Good Luck

I am looking really hard at the Kumho Zen tires too...the 215/65/15 size...stock size on early thirdgens anyway. Cheap so you can give them a shot...
