Car: 1989 Firebird Formula
Engine: Internal Combustion
Transmission: Completed
Axle/Gears: ones that turn.
A cable drive sending unit with the proper gear for the transmission and a cable (obviously). Ones for an 82-90(?) Camaro or 82-85 Firebird will work. There should be a plug on the firewall to remove to allow the cable to feed through.
You'll need to modify the existing cluster to allow for the cable to feed through it, or if you can find one, get one from an 85 Firebird, as it is already set for cable drive, and matches the existing faces. One from an 82-84 could be made to work by repinning the wires in the connectors.
The only real problem would be getting a signal to the ECM, if still equipped...
