Q About Serpentine A/C Compressor Swapping

OK, I've searched till I'm blue in the face and I can't find a satisfactory answer to something. I'm currently swapping the serpentine setup off an '89 Firebird onto my '87 Z28. The 'bird has all the parts I need except that it's missing the A/C compressor. Question: will the compressor from a 1990's era TBI V8 truck with serpentine belt fit this setup? I know the TBI truck serpentine setup won't work on my TPI car, but will just the compressor swap over? See, the yard I got the Firebird stuff from has plenty of those trucks with good compressors, and he's a good friend so he'll let me get whatever I need. Any ideas?

It's an R4 compressor, and it already should have a serpentine clutch assembly. It will work.

Yes, all you need is a serpentine RWD compressor, a 90 truck would have one that would work.

Thanks guys, I thought it might work. I'm going back to the yard Monday, if it doesn't rain and get one of those truck compressors. I'll let you know how it turns out.

The A/C pump fits like a glove, although I have no idea what it came off of. The guy at the yard took me into a room with a rack full of R4's and we just picked one out, so who knows?? Score one for GM interchangeability. I got it mostly done and ran the car yesterday, just have to finish rewiring the alternator and put the correct end on the A/C harness. I should have done this a long time ago!

here's a pic, excuse the mess...............
