275/50/15 tires on 15x7 Firebird rims for racing?

Wondering if these tires are too wide for drag racing on a 15x7 rim. They say they will fit rim width of 7-10 inches. I don't think the next size smaller 235/60/15 will have enough contact for a mid 13 second car. These are BF Goodrich Drag Radials going on standard 15x7 inch Firebird rims

The widest I could go was 255 on my stock 15" rims without rubbing.

They'll work pretty well when aired downa bit, but if you run 'em on the street they'll wear out in the center pretty fast. I ran 265/50/15s on 15x7 rims and they definitely took more wear in the center even when inflated just right.
And i think more than few people have gone pretty fast on 235/60 radials, let alone drag raidals. I can't name specific people/cars, but if you'd rather have a tire that fits the rim and doens't look boy-racer you can run well under 2.0 60's on the 235s.

I run 275-50-15s on my stock 15x7 rims. They don't rub, and work great. Thay are worn down much more in the center than on the edges tho...I dunno if you could fix that in the future by running less air pressure or not.

Oh yeah..thats only on the rear tho...in the front I have 235/60's. I don;t think you can go much wider there without rubbing.
