There is something wrong if it is overheating... Trying to create new things to band aid it won't fix the core problem... We need more specific info (ie: under what conditions is it overheating, where do you live, is the fan running, how hot is it getting, etc?).. Could be something as simple as an inoperative fan, could be something as simple as messed up ignition timing. But it shouldn't be overheating.

How hot is too hot, what heat range is it getting up too? Have you looked at the coolant temp sending unit, the radiator hose possibly collapsing, bad water pump. When does it start to get hot? Do you have an air dam installed and basically everything that thirdgen88 has posted.

As Trickster has alluded to, we meed more info. Environmental temps, heat temp of engine, coolant condition, fan operation, conditions at time of problem. It is hard at best to diagnose a problem when you are nowhere near the car, so specifics are necessary.

Defining 'too hot' is probably the first thing to do.

Having an air dam installed will help a great deal and I am surprised that your mechanic didn't check that.....on second thought I'm not surprised... Also as mentioned earlier, check your radiator hoses. You said that you had changed the coolant, when was the last time the radiator and engine was flushed?

With no air dam you have re-routed the air flow to the radiator...very bad!!! It is getting almost no air flow! Check to make sure you dont have a bunch of sheit between the rad and a/c condensor. Put in new hoses if they are old. Get a bottom hose with a spring in it. You could have air in the motor somewhere. Squeeze the hoses to get any bubbles out. Rads clog from the bottom up. Flush the system. Check for coolant flow. If you have headers your gauge could be off by about 20* (higher). You need to check the wiring on the fan. It shouldnt come on when you turn the radio on...Your timing could be off. Any advance in timing will make the car run hotter. Thermostats are mass produced. Just because you changed it three times doesnt mean the one you have now is good. Make sure it is in correctly. Is there any pressure in the rad? After it warms up squeeze the upper hose to check if its somewhat hard. If you have any kind of small leak anywhere you will lose pressure in the rad and run hot. Hope these help.
PS:
It is so much better to ask questions on this board when a problem first arises then spending lots of dough and then asking.

what temp thermostat are you running? If you are running a 160* or a 180* thermostat without a custom computer chip from hypertech or what not then your factory computer will be to stupid to turn the fan on when it is supposed to. That is the problem that I have, so when ever it starts crepping to close to the redzone on my temp guage I turn the a/c on so the fans will come on. From your post you said your fans run all the time, so make sure you do have have an airdam on the car. Look under your front bumper and see if the is a "flap" that runs the width of the car and comes down about 5 or 6 inches round abouts. If that piece is not there then get one from a junkyard car and put it on! This piece is what directs the airflow while you are driving to your radiator. If that piece is there make sure you are not leaking coolant or that the radiator is clogged. Also check and see if there are a lot of dead bugs and other various crud all over your radiator. If so take your garden hose and spray all the crap off of there(NOT WHILE THE ENGINE IS HOT). After that make sure your thermostat is still good, all it takes is a couple times of getting to hot to screw up and get stuck opened or closed. Make sure your water pump is good, if not replace it ASAFP. Make sure your air/fuel ratio is not to lean becuase that willmake you run hot. Make sure your timing is not out of whack becuase that will cuase it to overheat as well. After all of that make sure you do not have a blown head gasket. Is there any coolant in the oil or oil in the coolant? Change your oil and see if it looks like chocolate pudding, if it does then you probably have a blown headgasket. Check to make sure your temp senors and or guage is working properly. I think that is about it. Oh, if you have an automatic make sure it has enough fluid and make sure the fluid is good. Is there anything I missed guys?

These are the upper and lower baffles for the radiator that the air dam forces the air into. Unfortunately my camaro service manuals do not show a picture of the air dam itself as shown in the picture from hawks. On the firebirds they are a three piece affair and are called air deflectors.
