How to drop gas tank

How to drop gas tank
Ok, I guess my idleing problem I have been chasing for awhile is a bad fuel pump.
Reading the Chilton manual, they say I need to disconnect the shocks and lower the rear axle and also lower the exhaust. Is that really necessary?
Also, the filler tube, does it just pull out of the tank through a rubber gasket like other cars?
This sounds like quite a job

Thanks for the link, very helpful.
I am pretty sure the pump is bad for a few reasons. First I am sure it is original, second I have to disconnect both the tps and map sensors to get the car to idle at all. Once I have it idling that way I can move the car but as soon as I give it throttle it almost dies. Have already changed the fuel filter, read codes, changes sensors, etc.
BTW, I don't see any mention of the fuel filler tube pulling out of the tank. It does not do that? I'm used to the ones where the tube is pushed into a rubber gasket in the tank.

You just have to angle the tank the right way to get the filler neck out.

Got it done, pretty big job, most difficult part was getting the filler tube to come out and then go back in correctly.
The problem was the rubber hose from the pump to the metal tube, it had cracked and was pretty soft.
Thanks for the info guys, it helped a lot!
