BFG drag radials Vs. Nitto's drag radials.

BFG drag radials Vs. Nitto's drag radials.
I was wondering what everyone thinks. I have no experience with either, but I'm getting ready to buy a set. I want to know which sticks better and which is overall better. Right now I can run 12.7's but my 60' sucks. I can't get off the line without spinning half way through first. So what does everone think thanks.

nitto's, but if you don't need DOT tires then i'd buy real slicks.

Forget drag radials. They are a compromise. If you're going to the trouble to swap rear tires to race, then go all out. I run Hoosier Quick Time DOT's. Properly heated up, I can give it all my engine has at launch and they stick like glue.

I already have strait slicks. I have a set of goodyears, But I can't run them on the street. I want something good to run on the street legally. I already got a ticket for running my slicks on the street. How much do the Hoosier Quick Time DOT's. cost. Keep the opions rolling. Thanks

well, I personally do not have any experience with either but I know dozens who have used bfg's on GN's with no problems. I have a friend that had a 97 cobra that ran 12.2's and he hated the Nitto's and said they were "slicker than snot". He bought a set of BFG's and is running 11.02's on a 65 Nova and loves them to death. I have overheard a couple other people say the Nitto's don't hook as well either. I will be buying a set of BFG's for my TTA soon so that they look somewhat stock. I have run Pro sportsmans for a while and have a set of ET streets and both hook very very well but they are obvious when meeting someone on the street and they do not take corners or high speeds well due to the wrinklewall carcass. It all depends on what you will use them for. my 70 race car will get the ET streets since it will only see the track but my TTA sees more street use than track use so it's getting some radials. Plus, I want to be more impressive when I try and get in HPP for an upcoming shootout.

If you want a tire that sticks decent and you can get alot of mileage out of before they are bald get nitto's. Bfg's are a little stickier but dont last nearly as long. I swear by the nitto's for everyday driving.

I run Nitto's on mine. They work pretty good on the street although they do need some heat to work their best.
At the track they work really good. Last year I was getting 1.95 - 2.00 60 fts. with the stock convertor.
This year I've pulled 1.79 60fts. and they still hook up good.
Just some more info for you.

Oops, I forget to say that the new 60 ft times are with a Vig convertor. Wheel spin can happen a lot easier now but at the track it hooks pretty well.

Get the BFG's. They are made in the USA and the Nitto's are made in Japan. They also hook better than Nittos. Mine are going on in about a week.

I am on my Third set of Nittos. I love them and wouldnt run anything else on the street.
They are perfectly fine to drive in the rain and anywhere else you go.
Quick Time Pros are not a real street Tire. They may be a DOT but your going to die in the rain and they will be worn out if you drive any amount of distance on them.
I have been 1.62 on Nittos and went 1.56 on Quick Time Pros.
The Nittos require alot of heat in order to stick and they are probably worse than a normal radial when cold but with heat they work awesome!
BFG Drag Radials work good on the street, probably better than Nittos but its a shaved tire, you dont want to get caught in the rain. I have talked to more than a few guys at the track they have down 360s on the highway with the BFGs in the rain.
I drive from Boston to Bristol, Tenn everyear to go racing and I run the Nittos for the drive down and they are awesome.

Even though i haven't run either tire, i have looked into this before, and alot of what you've heard in this post is what i've found.
The nitto's seem to be a much longer lasting, better riding/handling tire. Also, as TTA said, they can be driven in the rain without too much sweat. Their downfall is they seem to like a long burnout to really stick good from what i've heard, but even w/o a burnout they're better than a regular tire.
The BFGs are supposed to hook better, especially without a burnout. But from what i've heard they wear out very fast, and also as TTA said, they have no real tread so most people call them scary in the rain. Also from what i've heard, the sidewalls are a lot softer, which is probably a lot of the reason they hook better than the nittos. But this also kills handling.
