a few questions on vacuum
Ok, I have my plan together, lets hope it works, some of yuo have been helping me with my intake questions, but I have a few that are pertaining to vacuum lines etc.
My car has no ECM, had egr valve on stock intake. Installing new intake with egr provisions, using stock carb, Just found out I don't need the temp sensors in the thermostat housing as I have no ECM , correct? So I could install a nifty chrome one and not affect my engine in any way?
Ok, plase bare with me, I know this is a lot.
(1) I will still need to run the vacuum off th egr to the egr spot on the carb, correct?
(2) Will I need to cap some of the nipples on my stock carb, in order to keep my egr system working? Remember no ECM...
(3) I need to pass an e-test soon, will it pass, assuming the engine is tuned and my pcv and egr system are working?
(4) What other vacuum lines will i need( i don't have the stock air cleaner assembly in my car, just open element) so that one is not going to be used.
Ok, now that I have said all that, I have no clue as to what vacuum lines go where and which ones I wont need lol

when i bought the car, it didnt have an ecm, my distributor is vacuum advanced, my carb is non cc, i think? But from ewhat Ive found on it, it might have been ECM at one time, Im not sure. Either way, I don't want it to be computer controlled.
But as Ive stated, I have the temp sensors in my thermostat housing, but I was told that they are ECM controlled, yet I dont have an ecm, Im so confused lol

the only wires going to it are on the choke and another connection on the drivers side, a small metal cylinder, like a relay in your fusebox.

You'll need a port somewhere that you can stick a thermal vacuum valve(TVS) to control the EGR, other wise you'll get egr as soon as you start the car and open the throttle...most likely it will die imediately.
Normal route is timed vacuum to TVS to EGR....this way you don't get EGR until both the Temp is up as well as throttle open.

It has threads on the bottom to screw into the Tstat housing and "ports" on top..basically is screws into the Tstat housnig and senses the water temp...once temp reached a certain amount, then the "ports" open up and allow vacuum to pass (or be pulled) through, from the lines connected.
ONe more thing...TVS is Thermal Vacuum Switch

ok, there are 2 of those on the thermostat housing right? I broke my tstat housing, got to get a new one lol...The left one or the right one, if you're looking at the engine while in front of the car?

Not sure which one it is, but the one for EGR should be normally closed...i/e with it in your hand, you shouldn't be able to blow through the ports, the other one might be for the Thermvac thing on the aircleaner snorkel, but I'm not sure.
