last weekend i had to replace my starter. it would keep running after it was started. So i put a brand new one in with the shimes that was on the orignal one. it started fine but then when i went out later to move it, it would make a gringing noise when i would try and start it. i then found out that the alum. cover(that goes over the gear) was cracked. so i took it back and got another one. i put it back on and it was good. i started it later and it still was good. so I tried to start it for the first time since last weekend. and it is making the grinding noise again. i took the starter down and tried adding and taking the shimes off. it still did it. so i then put jumper cables on the batterie. It did not make the noise again. now for my question. Could the batterie just be really low(i put it on the charger and it is charging at 2 amps). or could there be something else. It an 84 z28. 305 with a bigger cam(if that matters) thanks in advanced
