engine dieing

i hope some one can help me out here. Every time i push in my clucth my rpms drop so low the the engine dies. It does this every time i go to stop or shift from 1st to 2nd. i for some reason dosn't do it going to any other gear. i have thought about what it could be the only thing that is wrong with the car is it has a vaccum leak. but the thing is it just started this about a week ago. i have had the leak for about 6 months. Also i converted from a 700 to a t5. it never did this with the auto. but i have had the t5 in for about 2 months now. and it just started about a week ago. Any help would be nice. thanks.

I can think of two things that need to happen post haste:

1. You need to repair the vacuum leak;

2. You need to verify that the ECM has a calibrator (PROM) that is designed for a manual transmission engine combination.
