How Do I Replace My Fanbelt?

Okay yesterday I broke my fanbelt while driving my Camaro. And my dad and I went and bought a Goodyear Gatorback one to replace it. First of all we have tried over and over again to get the belt on but it will not go over the adjuster pulley. We've also tried to run it the way it shows on the back of the box but doing it that way doesn't make the belt tense enough. So before I take a sledge to the entire motor and go find an LT1 lol. I Decided to come on here and ask how did you guys replace your belts? Please help on this one i'm about to lose my mind. Thanks again.....

Changing the belt is about as easy as opening the door. Fear not it is simple and you will be back on the road in no time. You need a .5" ratchet or breaker bar and put it in the squre slot circled in red and pull up and to the left (passenger side). This will take the tension off of the belt and you can slide the new one in. It is spring loaded so you will have to do it with one hand or have someone help you. Then just follow the under hood belt routing sticker.

EDIT: I assume you have a serpentine set-up? I will move this for you since it applies to all 3rd gen serpentine set-ups.

Not exactly a thirdgen, but it is a serpy from one: my Caprice. I like to have a friend or my dad or someone hold the tensioner back. Gives me 2 hands to route and what not. It goes really quick.

(judging by the fact that he said "tensioner", i think it is a serpy. I do not know of a tensioner pully on V-belt setups.) I
