clunking noise
ok i have a 91 rs with a LO3, OE 14x3, and no muffler going into a resonated tip.....everthing else is stock. i hear a clunking noise upon moderate to hard acceleration....but not when revving the engine....my father thinks it's the motor mounts...i think it's the tranny. the other day i started the car and it stumbled and then stalled, but just before it stalled i heard the clunk again and it came(from what seemed like) from the tranny tunnel.....whats wrong? is it the tranny mount or the torque arm or what....dad isn't letting me drive it until we get it fixed so i want to find out whats going on kinda quick-like...thanks in advance.....

Definatly sounds like the tranny mount. You should go search through the previous threads by using the 'search' function. This same problem has been brought up a million times.

i'd say trans mount also. replace it with a ES poly mount ,they're pretty much bullet proof.

its a trany mount, i would use a regular rubber mount, insted of the polyurathan mount, you risk cracking the bell housing becuse the motor can twist and the trans cant. use poly mounts on the motor
