There is no real easy way to beat a celica, they're putting around the same amount of power as you are and weigh a hell of a lot less. Heads, a better cam, intake, better exhaust, and different gears would be a good start. heh

i'd use 5-30 and there are too many variables to guess who might beat who. i know of a 2.5 camaro beating a 5.0 gt mustang. HP isn't the only factor involved.

I've actually raced one of those new Celicas in my old 91RS. I got my *** beat! I have a buddy with a 92z 305auto that raced the same Celica. They were about tied. I think the Z won by a little bit though. So with your LG4 your going to either have to GUT IT for weigh. Put some NOS on it and then pray

Hmmmmm, haven't tried a celica on for size yet....maybe after I get my new Fuel pressure regulator, I'll have to go an intentionally seek one out on the roads....Everyone said the BMW M3 was trouble, and I smoked the hall outta one on Allendale Rd about a mile from PA rt 422 a year ago or so. (When I still ived up there)
hmmm, I didn't really think a celica was a good addition to the kill list hmmmm...

Happy Hunting!

...better yet, just to even the playing field, wait until the Celica is fifteen or twenty years old. See who has the beat up POS then...

If you want to compare apples to sushi, send our little bro' the Fourth Gen out in the form of an '01 Z28 SS Ram. Do they even offer smoke resistant paint for Toyotas?

guys, it depends on which engine the celica has, and whether or not it's a stick or an auto. the top of thel ine model, the gt-s, is real quick; I think it has 180 hp. but the gt doesn't, so you might be able to beat it.

Hes right. My brother bought a 2000 Celica GT and thats the slower model. The GT has 140 hp @ 6,400 rpm and 125 lb.-ft. @ 4,200 rpm, where the GT-S has 180 hp @ 7,600 rpm and 130 lb.-ft. @ 6,800 rpm, while weighing on at 2,425/2,460 lbs. for the GT and 2,500/2,580 lbs for the GT-S.And dont forget to comsider that theres some free mods these guys can do to their cars too from what i heard. As soon as i race my brother i let you guys know what happens.Later,

What the hell has this country come to when we have to worry about losing to f*ckin toyotas? Dear god, the EPA has american car manufacturers by the *****... Anyways I decided to get my butt in gear and start building up my enging after losing to many 5.0s, an integra with NOS, and a goddamn brand new Silverado! Extended cab even! that one pissed me off the most...

A tire iron, crowbar, ball-peen or 25-lb sledge hammer will beat a rice rocket real nice.

if he has an auto you'll win.. I HATE toyota automatic transmissions.. well I hate all automatics, but that's beside the point(yes I know.. the 87 had an auto.. but the 92 don't).. if it's a 5spd.. he may beat you.. you won't know till you race him..

Yeah, tell me about it. My father-in-law has a one-ton dually he swears will take my camaro. I just tell him to put the crackpipe down, but I'm really too scared to race him. He'd never let me live it up if I lost.

I barely beat a 24valve acura legend the other day. He's looks like he's not even tryin and there I am, tires spinnin and engine screaming. I felt like such a dumb*ss.

I need more engine.

You know what's really fun? When they keep creeping up at the light, get a full car length ahead of me, jump the light, and then they realize, that drivers side exit SLP catback system is for a 350-V8 not a little L-4, as the tires smoke, the engine roars, and I blow past them before they even get their foot on the gas due to their jaws sitting on the floor.

Really though, I make it a show, those ricers have far less torque than us, so they can be flooring it and you'd never know, except for those abnoxiously loug angry hornets on steroid ricers, where you can hear THEIR rpms better than yours (even though they are going much slower )Since I know my tires are going to spin (especially on these almost polished smooth, but full of holes denton tx roads) I just let first gear play out to 5000 RPM or so, this way, my engine is audiable over their 6" tail outlet, and so is the screaming of my tires. The psychological impact alone is great!
Gotta BEAT them all

Yup, modded assed 350 with 4.10 and the SLP. The 5.7 sticker gives it away (should rip that off) but man, just press the pedal slow w/o blowing the tires away and your in front of any car...(just about)

Even if they run a faster 1/4 mile I completly annihalate them of the get go and pull in front of them (you have to end the race). Not that i'm slow or anything (whooped a SVT mustang by a longshot, but 4.10s and overdive still only get you so far up in MPH [after 1/4]), and not that I join in on all the mustang haters (they are nice cars for some purposes, but I never owned nor do i ever plan on owning one, but I frequently work on my friends) Traction is the key to total street embarrasment of your foe.

Sorry for the disclaimer type deal, but I don't want to be mis-taken for one of those *******s who revs thier motor on a busy & heavily policed street and actually thinks your going to race him the whole 1/8 mile to the busiest intersection know to man.

My most surprising loss was to a Thunderbird SC around 91 vintage. Plain jane.... I had to look under the hood of this thing.... and no wonder... a 460 with nitrous. Nice quiet exhaust, clean plain paint, nothing too fancy (should'a noticed the big rear meats on it).

If I saw a 302 there I would of... I don't know I woulda done something though.
