which aftermarket rods clear a stroker

i have heard that certain aftermarket rods will clear the cylinder bores and camshaft without having to grind them down or clearance the block. lunati pro-mods were one type i heard. someone else said eagle h-beams will clear. anyone here ever do this sucessfully? fyi, this is regarding a 383 with 6" rods and a standard base cam.

you need to checkreguardless of what rod you use. as a rule rods that use cap screws have better clearance.

well of course i will be checking everything before final assembly. i just wanted to know which actual rod to choose before i shell out the bucks on a set that will require modification anyway. will eagle h-beams clear the cam? the nice thing about the pro-mods is they use a shorter rod bolt as well as caps but theyre pretty expensive.

Any cap-screw rod has a better chance of clearing than any nut & bolt rod. But, that's just chances.

There are no guarantees. There's too much tolerance in all the parts, starting with the block itself, to say with any certainty what will or won't fit. Better to assume that it'll be tight and choose parts wisely in accordance with that.

The smart person would buy a small base circle cam up front, thereby lessening the chances of having to grind on the rods for clearance. Probably end up costing less in the long run in addition to producing a superior finished product.
