Block #3892657, small or large journal?
I may be buying a 327 block, crank rods and pistons here pretty soon, but the guy doesn't know if it's a small or large journal. i looked the casting number up on mortec, and found that the block was used in 67 for 302's 350's and 327's but it didn't say anything about journal size. I believe 67 was the first year for the 350, but i can't remember if it was ever a small journal or not.
Anybody know?

Does anybody make stroker cranks for a small journal block?

You could offset grind a 350 crank to fit the smaller mains and use some weird combo of rods and pistons. Or even offset grind 3.75" crank to 3.80" and use the GM 383 pistons and rods. Or offset grind to 3.87 and use GM 5.94 PM rods and 6" rod 383 pistons or......
But is it really worth it?

Pretty tough to "offset grind" mains.... you can do that to rod journals though, to increase the stroke, but you need to make sure that whatever you change the stroke to, you can get pistons for.
Or, like ede said, just leave the rod journals alone, and use LJ rods.
However; there was never any such thing as a small journal 350; so if that block could possibly have been used to make a 350, then it has to be a LJ block. Mortec's listings can be a bit ambiguous that way: for instance, it might have been a 350 block in 67 (Camaro SS only) but not a 302 or 327 in that year; and it could also have been a 350, 302 or 327 block in later years.
I don't recognize the casting # myself, so I can't just say it's small or it's large. I would if I could but I can't. Sorry.
