timing

how do i check to see if my distrubutor is timed to the compression stroke?

Pull the #1 spark plug. Put your finger over the hole and turn the crank. When you feel air push your finger off the hole, line up the timing mark on the balancer to the cover.

and after you've done all that check to see that thew rotor is pointing to the #1 post on the distributor
