HELP!!! I want your input and suggestions on 383
Hi Guys
Well I am at it again. I am about to rebuild my 350 5.7 TPI, however, i have decided to go with this setup:
1987 350 TPI 58cc Corvette Aluminum Heads #1000832113
ported & polished with a 3 angle valve job
block: #10054727
Comp Cams Part number 12-268-4
Grind number CS XE268H-14
can be seen here:
http://www.compcams.com/Technical/Se...umber=12-268-4
Eagle 383 Complete rotating assebmbly includes:
internally balanced cast steel crank
SIR I beam 5.7 rods
Speed Pro coated pistons (hypereutectic)
flexplate and balancer
Clevitte bearings and rings etc.
I currently still have my strong 700r4 with a 2500 stall with a custom ford 9 inch 3.89 posi trac. I also have a 150 shot of nitrous as well.
What should I get for push rods and rockers?
What should I get for injectors?
What should I get for a chip?
Should I go with a 52mm or 54mm throttle body?
I also need valve covers(center) and an oil pan.
I have my stock plenum and center with my SLP runners. should I port these?
Any suggestions guys, help.
I am also looking for sponsors....he he
This stuff is getting expensive.

It doesn't list an rpm range for that cam. Keep it between 1500-5500 for your combo. Port the base, plenum and runners as much as you can, and run some 1 5/8 or 1 3/4 longtubes. This combo will keep the mid-range torque high. 30lb injectors, burn your own chip, 58mm tb. The rest is tuning.

I assume this is a roller block... why would you put a flat-tappet cam in it?
Look at the Comp "305" grind instead.
I'd use some other bearings besides Clevite.... Speed Pro probably.
Comp 1302 rockers. (those heads have guide plates)
Whatever push rods fit.... you won't know until you assemble it.
Manley Street-Flow valves.
1.45" valve springs, which will require machining the spring pockets in the heads.
I believe the chip you need will be a 27C128; but I could be wrong, it might be a 27C256. You'll need a PROM burner and eraser, and to spend some time on the PROM board.
Your stock oil pan will be fine. Don't waste money on something that you don't need and will probably end up causing you trouble in the long run.
As long as you keep the stock intake base, a 52mm throttle body will be entirely adequate. That base will protect the TB from becoming the bottleneck.
1¾" headers.
