Valve spring installation
I need to install my new springs at an installed height of 1.75" and I have a couple of questions for those that know what they are talking about.
1. Do I need to mic the rest of the spring pockets once I have determined the correct number of shims that I need to acheive the 1.75" IH on the first cylinder? Or can the same shim combo be used on all the springs?
2. What order do the shims go in?
3. Do I need a special shim for the bottom position?
Thanks guys

1 yes you need to measure each spring location
2 order doesn't matter
3 i use spring cups on aluminum heads and on 1.4 or larger springs for SBCs but there is no shim that has to go first.

1. I'd check them all. Too many factors that can affect it, especially how far each valve and seat had to get cut.
2. Order doesn't make any difference, except that if you have a spring steel one, use that on top. Dampers will chew right through the usual parts-store type ones.
3. The bottom one doesn't make any difference.
