Air-induction idea!!
I was examining the engine compartment of my car ('91 RS TBI) for a good air induction set-up, and i wanted to know if anyone has trie this.
I was thinking of getting two dryer tubes and attaching them to the inside of the front grille. Possibly having to remove the license plate for extra air to the radiator. And then routing them under the car and up to the air-cleaner housing.
Anyone ever try it? It seems like it'll make a good ram-air effect, and it's well hidden so you don't have any obtrusive crap sticking out. Of course this won't work for firebirds, b/c the lack of grilles.
I was also thinking of somehow converting this project for my TBI: http://exit3.i-55.com/~davidlt/air_intake.htm

corregated tubing is terrible for airflow.
one tube is enough and two would be a waste.
the best way to run the tube is between the headlights and the radiator. You will have to cut metal to do this.
yes it's been done many many times.

Do you know if anyone has ever tried buying a household air compressor, wiring it to their battery and running that to the air cleaner? Perhaps storing it in the rear locking compartment.
What are the results of that?
What are the results of that?

the result would be that you'd get laughed at.
I have no idea why you would do something like that because it would be a lot of work and extremely expensive.
they already make electric superchargers that run on 12 volts.

You mentioned electric superchargers. By chance, do you have an link to a site about these? I've never seen one, and although I can't see myself installing one on my car anytime soon, it would still be interesting to find out about.

sure no problem.

they will increase air density in your intake tract but unlikely to produce any measureable boost on a guage. This is roughly the equivalent of dropping your density altitude.
It is designed for smaller engines on a roadrace course, but multiple units can be used for a larger engine. Also you can use a Jacobs accuvolt regulator to supply 16 volts to the unit for more output. Obviously your intake tract must be completely sealed for this to work.

...or you could try the soon-to-be-patented Box O' Rocks Induction System (BORIS). It uses a Black & Decker electric axial compressor/blower, and one shítload of extension cord for the ¼ mile runs:

the gas powered leafblowers are the only way to go. You can switch the blower-engine over to nitromethane and make some real boost.

My buddy BOR is still getting air-time, even though he doesn't appear to be on the boards that often anymore. I need to call him and see where he's been...
Someone take Vader's paint program away before I gum up my keyboard with coffee...
My dad actually recommended hooking a 12 volt electric blower motor into the throttle body. Claimed he's done it - way back when - on carb'd cars and that it made a difference. Since even God could not win an argument with this man, I just nodded my head and tried not to smile. I even said "really!" and "cool!" at the appropriate times.

Gm makes a air induction system like that
"10185077" Buick had this setup in the early 50's and "FNORD" used it on thier H0 mustangs
in the early 80's. ive tinkerd around with the idea and built a few look like crap so i trashed em. you could get another air cleaner from a junk yard with the snorkel and hook hook it to the other side of your car buy you have to cut the inlet off the old one and weld it to the new one. I think it would help alot on the highway but not much around town.
