Question regarding ESC module...........
My car idles like crap right now and I've replaced basically everything I can think of. Anyway what would be some symptoms of a bad ESC module and where would I find it on a 1991 Z28? My car does not idle without constant fluctuations.

Is it possible the almighty techs here at thirdgen have been stumped?
Anyway I cant get the car to idle without a constant dropoff and it runs REAL rich. Well I think its running rich, My exhaust smells like so bad it makes you pass out from one wiff Would the ESC cause this?
I've checked the wires *MSD SUPER CONDUCTORS* I've changed the plugs three times from bosch x4, Standard ACplugs, and now I have the AC rapidfire's. I put a new cap and rotor. I tested the MSD box and it worked fine. I replaced the coil to a 8223 MSD 3. My fuel pressure is 44psi. I've replaced the ignition module and just about everything else I can think of. For some reason the car will not idle at any constant rate, it keeps dropping and picking WAY up. Thanks please help.

I've read some Post that the ESC is all in the ecm on a 91 Z "sd" computer and you dont really have a ESC all controled by ecm
hope that helps

Car: Mullitt mobile :)
Engine: it's stock LOL
Transmission: 700rJunk
Axle/Gears: 2 much 4 street not enough for strip
I'm getting ready to post about my ESC module. My car idled fine, but when I go over 3K rpm it starts missing out and back firing. Don't know about it affecting idle though.
Doesn't help any but just stating the condition I got with mine acting up.
Sparks a flyin'

Car: 84 Z28

Does your fuel pressure stay up when the pump stops without the engine running? When you cycle the ignition switch on, it should build pressure, then kick off after 2 seconds. After that, it should maintain the pressure for a few minutes. If it is dropping, from the symptom's you've given, I'd say you have an injector leaking.
Good luck!

Nope the fuel pressure stays constant. I'm glad my injectors arent bad. I think its just a tuning problem. its a slight misfire and a bad fluctuation in idle.

I think you need to find someone in the bay area who does custom proms, and get them to tune your car. A 383 with 24lb injectors and cam/heads isnt going to run very well on the stock chip.
Do you think you'll have it together in time for the GM West Coast Shootout??

Well kevin, I do have a chip, I have several actually ranging from race, street, mileage, and one to help pass smog. I have the street chip in the car now. I'm going to make the shootout even if I have to bring my 95Z but it only runs mid 13's and I'l anxious to see what my 91 will run weighing in at 3800 lbs because of stereo equipment. I'de be willing to bet it runs a low 14 the way it's acting now though
